Five Favorite Book Covers

 

I chose this cover because of how minimalistic the style is along with the use of little but contrasting colors. While it is extremely simple, it gets straight to the point in regards to the title, showing a flame surrounded by snow or hail.

The contrast in this cover was really nice, and the illustration is simple but gives implications about the book. The use of puppet strings gives people the impression that the book deals with manipulation, as the title is The Godfather, linking itself to the mafia which would use ruthless tactics of manipulation.

The color scheme stood out and brought out the deadly theme of the book. The design reveals the plot, showing two students in school uniforms holding brutal weapons to kill each other. The color scheme also reveals the choker censors which explode when students attempt to escape the arena.

The cover is very simplistic and is most likely directed towards women. I liked the use of neutral and soft colors with the design of the lipstick on the mug, indicating that the main character is a woman.

The cover depicts important factors of the book including a famous quote, and the eye of Big Brother watching over everyone. The use of dark red with black and white set a darker and more ominous atmosphere for the book.
