Message: An idea being conveyed to other people through words, art, or sound
Work Ethic: The ability and desire to perform diligently and efficiently at work
Employability skills: The skills which enforce proper work ethic and appeal to higher standing characters such as bosses and employers
20/20 rule: Stop looking at the computer every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds
Right-To-Know Laws: The right that people should understand what they are working with and how it affects them personally
Symbol: An image used to represent something abstract
Icon: An image used to represent an exact object
Vector-based graph: Graphics whose resolution do not change as you increase or decrease the size of the image
Specifications of a project ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ): The "specs" which are given the option to modify in the dialogue box
Dialog box: Message box which pops up upon the opening of a program in order to allow the user to modify the "specs" of the file
Palette: (Panel) Tool which contains all colors available for the user to utilize in his/her/xyr/their project
Art Board (⊙‿⊙✿): Working area; The space which contains the final product of a file
Scratch Area (⊙‿⊙✿): The area around the art board which can be utilized to test color palettes or shapes
Tool Box (⊙‿⊙✿): Contains all tools needed to create a design
Anchor Points (⊙‿⊙✿) ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ): Points in your file which begin and/or end a line/curve of a shape
Path (⊙‿⊙✿): The line/curve which is generated between two anchor points
Direction Handles (⊙‿⊙✿): Allows you to direct a curve through the anchor points
Close a Path (⊙‿⊙✿): Clicking on the anchor point you started with to complete a shape
Guidelines: Allow you to align objects and text in your image
File Extensions: A group of letters which appear after the file name used to indicate the format of the file
Contextual Menu: A menu which appears when right clicking an object or area of space
Clipping mask: An object whose shape masks other artwork so that only areas within the shape of the mask
Hue: A color which implements values of white/ saturates values to show brightness
Primary colors: Colors which cannot be created by mixing two other colors
Secondary Colors: A combination of two primary colors
Tertiary Colors: A combination of two secondary colors
Neutral colors: Colors which are neither bright or strong
Additive Primary Colors ლ(́◉◞౪◟◉‵ლ) (⊙‿⊙✿): Colors which make up white light, also known as Red, Green, and Blue
Typography: The style and appearance of printed matter
Typeface: A particular design of type
Serif: A slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter in certain typefaces
Body type: The type commonly used for he text of a piece of printed matter as distinguished from the varying type used for items such as headers or footnotes
Display type: Large or eye-catching type used for headings or advertisements
Reverse type: Where the background is printed rather than the actual text (white text on a colored background)
Point size: Relative measure of the size of a font
Ligatures: Something used to bind
Ampersand: The sign "&" which typically represents the word "and"
Lowercase: Small letters opposed to capital letters
Uppercase: Capital letters opposed to small letters
Flush left: Text aligned along the left margin
Flush right: Text aligned along the right margin
Centered: Placed or situated in the center
Justified: Spread out evenly along the left and right margins
Type Family: A set of one or more fonts each composed of glyphs that share common design features
SMALL caps: Capital letters set at the same height and weight of its surrounding lowercase letters
Lining: Where figures are the same height and rest on the baseline
Non-lining: Figures of varying height in a fashion that resembles a typical line of text
Leading: Distance between the baselines of successive lines of type
Margin: The edge or border of something
Kerning: Adjust the spacing between letters or characters in a piece of text
Tracking: Consistent degree of increase or decrease of space between letters to affect density in a line or block of text
Concept: A general notion
Final product: A manufactured product at the end of a production process
Thumbnail: A small or concise representation of something
Initial cap: Capital letter at the beginning of a text which is set to a larger text size
