Assignments

Assignment #1
Original Universal Symbols
I wanted my designs to be as simplistic as possible, mainly so that they'd be easy to remember and identify. The first symbol, and my favorite symbol (Labeled #1) is meant to be used for animal shelters, hence the collection of hearts formed into the shape of a paw. The second symbol uses the shape of a triangle, because triangles are typically used to represent a type of warning or danger, so I made this symbol as a warning for bee populated areas such as bee sanctuaries. The third and final symbol would most likely be located on top of large hills in areas that are distanced from urban cities, because they are meant to indicate decent areas to gaze at the stars.

Assignment #2
Geometric Self-Portrait
For this assignment, I used a neutral warm color scheme, consisting of different values of pink and purple, along with several values of brown for the portrait's skin color. Gray was also included in the color scheme, along with white to accent the image. Several tools I used included the pen tool, ellipse tool, rectangle tool, and a little bit of the shape builder and polygon tool. I would say my favorite part of this assignment would be the detail I put into the face, however I don't like how there wasn't much to play around with because the portrait was limited mainly to the face. If I could redo this, I would use a picture that includes more of the body, so I could add more detail to the portrait than being left with the details limited to the face.

Assignment #3 Level 2: Fantasy Creature
The creature is a ferocious hybrid between a falcon, bat, octopus, jellyfish, and a goat. It soars through its natural habitat which is a seemingly uninhabited forest and brings out its talons to strike its prey. My favorite part about this assignment was the contrast I was able to put between light and dark as well as balancing the colors to where they all match and flow through the creature naturally. My least favorite part would be the fact that some of the images added on had shading which opposed the rest of the image and was extremely difficult to improve, so that part was left imperfect. If I were to do this assignment again, I would probably look for images that have values located where I would want them to be.

Assignment #4: Book Cover
